Vintage JEAN BOXER-HAMMER Original Fabric Painting Abstract Nude Figures Framed 31×31′. French dyes and brushed on silk fabric by Jean Boxer Hammer, titled “Rondelle” on back is professionally framed under glass, work itself is also signed on the silk fabric and information printed on the back as well, likely 1990’s work based on the pieces and material Jean was using during that period, is not dated. Frame measures 31” across, 31” tall, 1-1/4” wide, work itself is 23” tall, 23” across weighs 10lb 9oz. Jean grew up in Brooklyn as the daughter of two talented painters. Summers were spent in Woodstock. She attended Music and Art High School and went on to earn graduate degrees from Queens College and Syracuse University. Jean had a long career in the New York public school system as an art teacher and then as a guidance counselor. Jean was an active member of the Woodstock community. She exhibited art at a WAAM and a number of other local galleries. Small crack to glass in top left corner, a few scratches to wood frame, there is clear adhesive tape exposed in one area, not very noticeable but could be adjusted if frame re-opened, a few small specks of foxing lower right are on matting, not on work itself.
