Vintage Large Folk Art Wooden Frog with Teeth by Sculptor Artist David Max Alvarez
I was able to acquire an estate with signed pieces from various artists in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area. One of these pieces is a very large and hard to find wooden frog by sculptor David Alvarez. This whimsical frog measures 13-1/2 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 4-1/4 inches tall. There are cracks at the joints, but no major structural damage. It is signed by the artist on the bottom, and most likely carved from cottonwood. Below is the bio for David Alvarez. David Max Alvarez is an American Postwar & Contemporary sculptor who was born in 1953 and died in 2010. Under Felipe Benito Archuleta. Felipe Archuleta is known to be the patriarch of modern New Mexico wood carvers.
